Installation Tips For Large Format Terrazzo Tile

Large format terrazzo tile is a beautiful addition to any room in your home. With its intricate patterns and vivid colors, it can really bring life to a space. If you are interested in installing large format terrazzo tile in your home, be sure to do your research first. 

 

 

Here are a few installation tips to help you get started:

1. Plan your layout carefully

Measure your space and choose the tiles that will fit best. Remember to factor in the width of the Terracotta border and any other trim around the room.

2. Prep The Surface

Clean and smooth the surface with a concrete or wood cleaner. If there are any bumps, ridges, or other irregularities, remove them with a small trowel or pneumatic nail gun.

3. Apply A Sealant

Apply a sealant to all rough edges and joints, letting it dry for at least 48 hours. Terrazzo tiles should not be exposed to moisture, which can cause fading and cracking of the tile.

4. Start Layering

Place one tile at a time on top of the sealant, pressing down gently until it is fully seated. Allow any excess sealant to drip off before continuing with the next layer. If needed, use a mallet or rubber hammer to tamp down each tile firmly before adding more sealant. 

5. Protect The Surface

Once the tiles are in place, protect the surface with the finish of your choice, such as acrylic or latex paint.
